A Multi-Vehicle Crash on Westbound SR 134 Leaves Slow Lane Blocked
GLENDALE, Calif. — A hit-and-run crash on westbound State Route 134 at North Glendale Avenue left at least one slow lane blocked and prompted a 30-minute SigAlert, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.
Shortly after 5:43 p.m., a beige Toyota Tacoma and a dark Lexus collided, ending up on the right shoulder. Moments later, a black BMW, possibly involved, was reported blocking a slow lane with airbags deployed. An off-duty firefighter from the U.S. Forest Service arrived to help, and one occupant of the black BMW was identified as a law enforcement officer.
Glendale Fire Department responded to the scene to assess injuries. The CHP requested a tow truck to assist. By 6:15 p.m., all vehicles were moved to the right shoulder, and officials issued a SigAlert to give emergency crews safe access to the slow lane.
Authorities have not released information on the total number of injuries. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with additional details is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol.
Liability in Multi-Vehicle Accidents
Multi-vehicle accidents like the one reported on westbound SR 134 can be especially complex when determining who bears liability.
In this incident, several factors may come into play: the alleged hit-and-run aspect, the presence of multiple drivers, and potentially different levels of negligence, such as speeding or distracted driving.
Each vehicle involved may have contributed to the chain of events. Careful investigation of the evidence, witness statements, and any surveillance footage will be crucial to establish liability.
Even if you believe you have only minor involvement, staying at the scene and providing information can be critical for an accurate determination of fault and for protecting your own rights.
Why Having an Attorney Matters, Especially in Injury Cases
When multiple parties and possible hit-and-run elements are involved, determining who pays for damages or medical expenses can become complicated. Insurance companies may shift blame, downplay injuries, or delay payments.
An experienced personal injury attorney can help navigate these legal hurdles by conducting an independent investigation, negotiating with insurance adjusters, and, if necessary, filing a lawsuit to ensure fair compensation.
If you or a loved one were injured in this crash—or any multi-vehicle accident—consulting an attorney early on can protect your interests and help you recover the financial support you need to heal.
