Vehicle Crashes into Bushes Along Westbound SR 90, in West LA

CULVER CITY, Calif. — A single-vehicle crash along westbound State Route 90, just west of Culver Boulevard, led to a SigAlert early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Shortly after 6:13 a.m., a caller reported hearing a collision from her home.

Responding officers found that a vehicle had veered off the roadway and into nearby bushes, which quickly caught fire. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene in response to potential injuries.

Officials diverted traffic off the Culver Boulevard on-ramp while Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to extinguish the flames.

Shortly after, CHP officers issued a SigAlert, advising motorists that the on-ramp would be closed for about one hour.

During their investigation, authorities noted that a yellow caution merging sign had been knocked down at the end of the freeway, and approximately 75 to 100 feet of chain-link fence were damaged.

Once the roadway was cleared, CHP confirmed that all lanes were open and traffic was flowing normally. Authorities have not released information regarding injuries or the cause of the crash.

Anyone with additional details is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol.

Single-Car Crash Liability

Typically, the driver in a single-car accident is liable if their actions were the cause of the crash. However, other factors—such as mechanical defects, hazardous road conditions, or poor visibility—could shift or share responsibility. Notably, the damage to a caution sign and a lengthy stretch of chain-link fence warrants closer inspection to determine if any roadway issues contributed to the collision.

It’s crucial to thoroughly investigate every angle of a single-car crash. While many assume that only the driver can be held liable, there are circumstances where government entities or vehicle manufacturers may bear some or all of the blame. For instance, if a malfunctioning part caused the driver to lose control, or if insufficient signage or lighting played a role, accountability may extend beyond the individual behind the wheel.

Ensuring You Have Proper Representation
Navigating insurance claims and potential legal actions in these situations can be complex. Victims can inadvertently shortchange themselves if they don’t fully understand their rights. Having an attorney oversee a proper investigation can help uncover the root causes of an accident, negotiate fair settlements with insurance companies, and, if necessary, pursue litigation against the responsible parties.
